Chichester's Summer Street Party and Cross Market & More event returns this July

Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to this free day of celebration to enjoy family friendly activities and entertainment alongside a unique shopping experience from the Cross Market & More traders.

The Cross Market & More offers the very best creatives, designers, makers and producers from the district along with local food and drink vendors.

On the day, the city centre will be buzzing with activity, with South Street closed to traffic making way for an 'al fresco' dining area. West Street and Cathedral Green will host free entertainment and attractions especially for children.

The day will have a full programme of live entertainment with music from various local artists, a dance exhibition from the Chichester Lindy Hoppers, a fashion show in North Street, children's entertainment including magic performances, face painting, giant nerf arena, LEGO tent, garden games, bath bomb making and more!

Chichester District Council has been working closely with the Chichester Business Improvement District (BID) and Chichester Rotary to bring back this popular event to the city centre.

Councillor Harsha Desai, Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Growth, Economic Development, Communication, Licensing and Events, says: "This is the fifth year that we have been running this particular event and we're really pleased as we have a few different elements this year to keep it fresh and exciting! The event always attracts a great crowd and we know that it's a firm fixture in many people's diaries. 

"Combining the two fantastic events means that we can offer a range of even more vibrant stalls and entertainment for families and visitors to experience, showcasing the amazing talent we have in our area from local artisans, traders, and entrepreneurs, singers, artists and more.

"This council-led event, with support from the BID and The Rotary, will give visitors the chance to enjoy all of the city centre — from unique market stands through to the city retailers, while enjoying a day of fun and frivolity!

"As part of our events strategy, we are also keen to maximise the use of various local venues and spaces to explore the different experiences and events that could be offered in the district. The Summer Street Party makes use of all the city centre and Cathedral green which we hope will boost the local economy and give people an amazing experience to enjoy."
