Community groups, local businesses and parish councils are set to benefit from an enhanced grants scheme, which has been launched by Chichester District Council and aims to support projects that drive economic growth, improve places and spaces, or build stronger communities.

Over the past few weeks, I've been pleased to see so many people having their say about our exciting plans to upgrade and enhance the council's play areas in Chichester.

I'd like to start by thanking everyone who took part in our 'Let's Talk: Housing' consultation earlier this year.

People will soon be invited to make comments on modifications being proposed to Chichester District Council's Local Plan, after councillors gave the green light to move to the next stage of the examination process.

Intervening early to prevent homelessness and end rough sleeping, improving housing standards across the private housing sector, and supporting work to improve the energy efficiency of homes, are some of the key aims of a new housing strategy adopted by Chichester District Council.

To ensure it is at the forefront of preparations for local government reorganisation, Chichester District Council has made some changes to the way its senior management team will work.

As you may be aware, we've secured more than £2.9 million to develop options and outline designs for a sea defence scheme that would reduce the risk of coastal flooding and erosion along the 4km of Selsey seafront.

Residents and visitors will be able to pick up a bargain when the 'Antiques, Vintage & Decorative Arts' market returns to Chichester city centre on bank holiday Monday 21 April.
