You can rent your property through Chichester District Council directly. We offer a completely free private rented sector scheme with competitive benefits.
What the council can do for you
- Dedicated officer for your property. Our Private Sector Housing Liaison Officer has a specialised knowledge of housing with expertise in all aspects of the private rented sector. They will be on standby to answer any questions you may have as well as offer assistance if required throughout the tenancy.
- Tenant Finding Service. Finding the correct tenant for your property is our priority. Our tenant finding service includes a comprehensive financial assessment as well as a general background check to ensure they are the correct fit.
- Tenancy sustainment. A key benefit in choosing our service is the tenancy sustainment we offer. Our team of housing professionals has expertise across varying areas of the sector. We are confident in our ability to use this knowledge to resolve any issues that may arise during the tenancy.
- Property inspections. Ensuring that your property is being well look after is vital. We carry out regular visits to ensure this, offering an initial settling in visit within the first month of the tenancy to check that the tenant is settled. We will then visit the property every 6 months.
- Rent upfront. As well as providing a deposit payment, we also offer up to 6 months' rent in advance, which is subject to availability.
- Eviction assistance. We understand that eviction can be a stressful experience for landlords. In the rare event that you need to evict a tenant, we will support you through the process and contribute towards the court fee.
