  1. Notification for Change of Vehicle Registration Mark on a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle

Where the proprietor of a licensed Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Vehicle wishes to change the Vehicle Registration Mark (the ‘VRM’), they must give notice of the proposed change to this Licensing Authority in order that we can update our records and issue a replacement licence and identification plate.

This Licensing Authority has developed this form to assist licence holders in giving notice of a proposed change. Please ensure that the form is completed correctly and the fee paid.

The current fee payable when applying to change a VRM is a total of £26.00 (£10.50 for the paper part of the licence and £15.50 for the identification plate). Payment can be made by debit card by calling our Customer Services Team on 01243 534740. Alternatively payment can be by cheque made payable to 'Chichester District Council' or by cash.

Please note that the vehicle must not be used as a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Vehicle until the new vehicle licence has been issued with the correct details and the new identification plate is displayed on the vehicle. Formal action may be taken against the proprietor and/or driver if a vehicle is found to be used for hire or reward with a vehicle licence plate which does not match the vehicle to which the plate is attached.
