Building control guidance

Changes to permitted development rights

Permitted development rights for planning have now changed. The government have produced a new manual to building regulations (opens new window).

Building regulation consent is still required for a range of projects.

If you believe building regulation consent is still required for any aspect of building work, please contact buildingcontrol@chichester.gov.uk.

Building control guidance

These documents offer guidance for energy conservation. Changes to the Building Regulations on 6 April 2006 mean that these should only be used for work approved and/or started before that date. Do I Need Building Control

We offer the Do I need Building Control Service. This service tells you if any proposed works require consent under building regulation.

What you can expect from this service:

  • A written response in the form of a letter or email within 20 working days.

  • Any response will be based on a desktop assessment of the submitted information. The submitted information will be assessed against the substantive requirements of the building regulations. The response will only set out the most significant aspects that may influence the proposals. A response does not constitute a full plans assessment. Other matters may be raised if a suitable application were forthcoming.

Please complete our Do I need building control eform. Provide us with the address to which your enquiry relates and as much information as you can to enable your enquiry to be answered.
