Book a building control inspection

Notifying the Building Control Officer

For all types of work, you must submit an official start notice at least two working days before work begins.

Start of work includes:

  • Construction of a new building or extension.
  • Excavation of strip or pad foundations.
  • Installation of piles.

Inspection stages

You or your builder must notify the Building Control Officer at the following key stages of construction. This ensures inspections are carried out before work is covered up:

  • Works to start
  • Excavations for concrete
  • Foundation concrete
  • Oversite concrete
  • Damp-proof course and oversite concreted
  • Soil and vent pipe under test
  • Foul water drains
  • Foul drains backfilled and under test
  • Surface water drains
  • Occupation before completion
  • Completion

Book a site inspection

We carry out site inspections Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. To request an inspection for the next working day, please submit your request by 4:30 PM.

Final Inspections require two working days' notice. You may suggest a preferred date, as long as it is at least two working days ahead. If we are unable to attend on your chosen date, a member of our Admin Team will contact you to reschedule.
