Payment Methods Policy
The Council's policy on payment methods is as follows, in order to reduce processing and insurance costs to tax-payers for the collection of debts to the Council.
East Pallant House council offices
- Cash - will only be taken for payment where a court summons has been issued and is produced at the time of payment.
- Cheques - are not accepted.
- Card - payments can be made up to £5,000. Multiple transactions of £5,000 to settle a higher value debt will not be accepted.
- BACS or Customer's Online Banking - must be used instead for payments exceeding £5,000 and must quote any reference requested by the relevant Council service to make the allocation of the receipt to the debt quicker and thereby avoid any subsequent and unnecessary Debt Recovery actions.
