Discretionary rate relief for charities and not-for-profit organisations application

    1. Registered charities:

      The Grants and Concessions Panel will only make awards, which are time or cash limited and will not usually be for a period in excess of two years.

      Registered charities receive 80% mandatory rate relief and Chichester District Council will only award additional discretionary relief to charities that support its stated aims, priorities and principals detailed in the Grants and Concessions Policy and only under exceptional circumstances. You will be able to provide any additional details that you consider relevant in support of your application later in this form.

      You will also need to have ready to upload a copy of the Charity's most recent annual accounts.

       

      Organisation other than registered charities:

      The Grants and Concessions Panel awards will be subject to review every two years.

      Community Amateur Sports Clubs receive 80% mandatory rate relief and Chichester District Council will only award additional Discretionary Relief to such organisations where they support its stated aims, priorities and principals detailed in the Grants and Concessions Policy and only under exceptional circumstances.

      Discretionary Rate Relief will not be awarded to organisations occupying property with a Rateable Value over £20,000 unless they support the Council's stated aims, priorities and principals detailed in the Grants and Concessions Policy and only where exceptional circumstances apply.

      You will also need to have ready to upload:

      • • A copy of the organisations most recent annual accounts
      • • Articles of Association
      • • Details from the Inland Revenue that the organisation is considered non-profit making
