Coronavirus safety advice

Please remember that your safety is our priority. Although the risk of catching coronavirus is lower when outdoors, the virus can remain active on surfaces and so please read our top tips.

  • If you have any symptoms related to coronavirus, such as a persistent cough or high temperature, please return home and follow government advice.
  • If you can, consider playing other games that you can play in the park, such as football or throwing a Frisbee, that do not involve touching fixed play equipment.
  • If the park is busy and you can't stay safe and keep a space, it may be worth returning at a quieter time.
  • Please make sure that you use hand sanitiser before and after using the play equipment.
  • Please have consideration for others. If there's a queue, please limit your time on the play equipment so that everyone can have a go.
  • If you have food or drink with you, please take it to a quiet area of the park and make sure that you clean your hands before eating.

Play equipment

Fixed play equipment is provided throughout the district, by housing associations, parish councils and the District Council. The sport and leisure department operate seven play areas which are located in Chichester at:

  • Amphitheatre - Velyn Avenue
  • Florence Road
  • Oaklands Park- Wellington Road
  • Priory Park
  • Sherborne Road
  • Whyke Oval

Florence Road and Whyke Oval also include a multi use games area.

We also operate Westgate Skate Park, positioned behind Westgate Leisure Chichester.

Regular park inspections

All play areas, multi use games areas and the skate park are inspected regularly, and an independent risk assessment is carried out annually. However, if you find a problem, notice any vandalism or have a query please contact the Parks team.
