Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks

Applicants and holders of a Private Hire/ Hackney Driver's Licence are subject to a criminal records check at the enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) every 6 months.

Should you have a criminal record, we would strongly recommend reviewing our convictions policy (below) prior to making an application.  The policy sets out very clearly the council's approach to convictions and the effect on whether or not a licence will be granted and/ or retained.

Please view the Hackney carriage and private hire policy and see the Convictions Policy which is under appendix E.
