Community Asset Transfer

Community Asset Transfer (CAT) is a process that allows local authorities to transfer ownership or management of public buildings or land to community organisations. This empowers local groups to take greater control of the spaces that matter to them, helping to preserve valued community assets and deliver services that meet local needs.

We welcome expressions of interest from parish and town councils, registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) and constituted community or voluntary groups with a defined governance structure voluntary, who are committed to using these assets for the benefit of the wider community. Transfers may be made through long-term leases or freehold ownership, depending on the circumstances.

To learn more about eligibility, the application process, and current opportunities, please view our Community Asset Transfer Policy (Word doc, 25 KB). Alternatively, you can email cat@chichester.gov.uk for more information about the Community Asset Transfer process.

If your organisation is interested in applying for a community asset transfer, you can submit an Expression of Interest through our online form.
