Initial Project Proposal Document (IPPD)

The purpose of this document is to justify the undertaking of the project based on the estimated cost of delivery and the anticipated benefits to be gained. The proposal outlined in this document will be used as part of the process for prioritising future projects.

Why should this project be undertaken? Include the following:

• Is it meeting an identified need?

• Does it support a Corporate Plan priority and/or objective?

• Will it generate annual revenue savings to support the council’s ongoing revenue budget?

• What are the consequences of not doing it?

List the high level benefits/impact that will occur as a result of delivering this project.

Identify the proposed target completion date and any other key timescales if known at this stage. Also explain whether the project is time critical and the date it would need to be implemented by.

Highlight the risks to the achievement of the expected outcomes. Also identify any related tasks or issues that the project will not include and could therefore be considered a risk.
