A number of the grants available to support businesses that have been affected by COVID-19 will be closing to new applicants on 31 March 2021. This includes:

  • Local restrictions support grant for businesses closed from 26 December 2020 onwards (Tier 4)

  • Local restrictions support grant (open) for businesses in the hospitality and leisure industries

  • Local restrictions support grant for businesses closed between 2 December 2020 and 25 December 2020

  • Local restrictions support grant for businesses closed between 5 November 2020 and 2 December 2020

Businesses can check if they are eligible and apply by visiting the council's Business Rates Announcements page.

Despite some of the grants closing to new applicants, further Government business rate grants have been announced. These are known as 'restart grants' and will take effect from 1 April 2021. More information is available by visiting the council's Business Rates Announcements page.

Councillor Peter Wilding, Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate Services and Revenues and Benefits at Chichester District Council said: "Time is running out to apply for a number of Government grants for businesses that have been affected by COVID-19.

"If you haven't done so already, you can check your eligibility and apply by visiting our Business Rates Announcements page.. A number of the grants will be closing to new applicants on 31 March 2021, so don't delay.

"Please be aware though that other support will continue to be available for businesses, including the recently announced restart grants. You can find out the full package of support available to businesses by visiting our COVID Business Support page."
