The event, which was delivered by Chichester District Council, with support from the Chichester Business Improvement District (BID), encouraged residents, workers and visitors into Chichester city centre to celebrate the High Street. Many shops and businesses took part and stayed open late to host in store activities and refreshments.

"I would like to thank everyone who came along to the Chichester Summer Street Party," says Councillor Norma Graves, Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Communications, Licensing and Events at Chichester District Council. "We were delighted to see crowds of people gathered in East and North Street throughout the evening enjoying the fantastic entertainment, delicious street food, and music from Spirit FM.

"The children were kept entertained by the fascinating bubble show, carousel, and face painting; and by the wealth of activities put on by local groups and organisations.

"We are very grateful to the Co-op, which is opening a new store in East Street on 25 October, for sponsoring the event and helping us to showcase all that Chichester has to offer — from unique and independent stores, through to major brands. It's vital that we support our local High Streets, particularly in the current financial climate, and this is a fantastic way to bring everyone together to celebrate our city," adds Cllr Graves.

Visitors also had the opportunity to give their feedback on the event for a chance to win two free tickets to a Goodwood race event in 2020. The winner will be announced on the council's social media channels on Friday 30 August.
