Plain English Campaign

We are committed to using plain English in all our communications - letters, emails, leaflets, newsletters, magazines and web pages. This means we try to write in a clear and effective way, being direct and friendly. We aim to keep sentences short, and remove or explain jargon.

We are working towards achieving the Crystal Mark for our website. This is the Plain English Campaign's 'seal of approval'. Our 'Advice and Benefits', 'Jobs and Careers', 'Housing' and 'Environment and Planning' sections have passed this review, as have the technical and navigation parts of the site. Other sections will follow in the upcoming months.
