The Gambling Act 2005 gives effect to the Government's proposals for reform of the law on gambling. The Act contains a new regulatory system to govern the provision of gambling in Great Britain, other than the National Lottery and spread betting.

These explanatory notes relate to the Gambling Act 2005. They have been prepared by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in order to assist the reader of the Act. They do not form part of the Act and have not been endorsed by Parliament.

Licensing Authorities are required to have regard to this Guidance under the Gambling Act 2005.
