Active for health schemes

Westgate Leisure in Chichester and Bourne offer an 'Active for health' programme to help people increase their exercise levels.

Two Women doing Pilates exercises

The programme is designed to make physical activity easily accessible to people who would normally find it difficult to take part. Your doctor can refer you if you have:

  • ailments and conditions that can be improved with physical activity, such as weight management, back care, cancer, coronary heart disease, diabetes, asthma, ante and post natal, low energy, anxiety, stress and depression
  • suffered a coronary event or surgery, or have a cardiac history
  • a diagnosis which causes chronic breathlessness.

The programme consists of initial and final consultations, together with 10 gym, circuit or Pilates-based exercise sessions, which are adapted to differing levels of fitness and ability.

Junior scheme

This is designed for 12 - 15 year olds with aliments and conditions that can be improved by physical activity. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all sessions who may join in the exercise. The cost of the scheme is £3.40 per session for the child. The adult is free following a £10 induction (if not already a Westgate Premier member).

Please contact the Active for Health Coordinator for more information or to book a session.
