"Last year's Food Fare attracted over 130,000 people into the city centre over three days, making it one of the busiest weekends in Chichester during 2011," says Cllr John Connor, Cabinet Member for Environment at Chichester District Council.

"This year, tying in with all the celebrations 2012 has to offer, we have a 'best of British' theme. We have some great competitions for visitors of all ages. As well as a Food Fare quiz for children where they can win £25 in vouchers, we also have one for all the family. If you come to the Food Fare dressed up as the 'best of British', you could win either a Food Fare hamper or £25 in vouchers. Simply pop over to the council's stall by the Cross and have your photo taken and then we will choose the best adult and best child costume.

"The Food Fare is run by our Farmers Markets' team to give local businesses, some who cannot appear at the market on a regular basis, a chance to show what culinary delights are available in our area. The event is run at no cost to the public purse."

Up to 50 local stalls will set up each day in North Street and East Street. Choose from:

  • a range of specialist cheeses;
  • seasonal locally grown fruit and vegetables;
  • reared meat and caught game;
  • a wide range of handmade foods, from baked goods to curries; and,
  • much more.

Visitors can enjoy the delicious foods available, or relax in one of the City's many cafés and restaurants.

Younger visitors can enjoy a mobile farm on site on Sunday (16 Sep). This will take place on Magnus Court, behind Marks and Spencer.

Opening times are 9am-5pm on Friday (14 Sep) and Saturday (15 Sep), and 10am-4pm on Sunday (16 Sep). For the latest information about Food Fare activities please contact the Farmers Market team or visit our Food Fare page in related articles.
