Renting privately

There are two ways of privately renting a property in our district. You can rent through one of the many letting agents or find a landlord who is willing to let their property directly to you. 

Both options have advantages and disadvantages. For example, the agents will charge fees but are likely to provide more specialist knowledge and support. An independent landlord will not usually charge you (other than rent in advance and a deposit) but is less likely to know details of the laws surrounding the industry.

To find an agent, you can:

• go to the agents' offices
• look on websites such as Rightmove and Prime Location and also Gum Tree
• buy local newspapers such as the Chichester Observer
• look in shop windows
