Both events start at Westgate Leisure Chichester. The Junior Aquathon takes place on Saturday 14 July and the Triathlon on Sunday 15 July.

"With the Olympics just around the corner we hope that people will be encouraged to give this sport a go. If you're not quite ready to take on a whole triathlon, you can sign up as part of a team. Our staff at Westgate Leisure and also staff from Natures Way Foods (NWF) are leading the way by entering teams for the event," says Cllr Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Wellbeing, and Community Services at Chichester District Council.

"Our team from Westgate Leisure is called 'Westgate 151' - summing up the total age of all members! Linda, Catherine and Sarah have been training hard and as an added incentive, are raising money for The Cherries Association, which provides respite care for children with learning disabilities associated with complex health care needs. Linda has even learnt to swim with the help of Westgate staff members."

Sarah Baldock, Sales and Marketing Director at NWF adds: "This year we have two great teams taking part in the Triathlon so the race is well and truly on!  The 'Old Timers' which is made up of two people who were part of the winning team last year and a new member who has previously completed the whole event on their own!

"The NWF '1st Time Rounders' is our other team and this is made up of staff that are all new to the event.  In addition, we have three individuals doing the Olympic distance - one who was part of our winning team last year and decided to give the whole event a go this year.  As the countdown begins, and with only two weeks to go, everyone is really looking forward to race day."

The main Triathlon event on the Sunday includes a 600m pool swim at Westgate Leisure Chichester, a 42km (26 mile) cycle ride and a 10km (six mile) run. If you don't feel like tackling those distances on your own, you can also enter as part of a team. One team member must complete the swim part of the race, one team member the cycle section, and the final team member must complete the run. You could enter as a family or even as a workplace team!

Alongside the main Triathlon event, there will be the Natures Way Foods Chichester Try a Tri event. This is a sprint triathlon suitable for competitors who prefer a shorter distance triathlon involving a 400m pool swim, 30k bike ride and a 5k run.

The Junior Aquathon is for competitors between eight and 16. It will include a swimming race at Westgate Leisure Chichester, followed by a race around Chichester College's campus. The distance set for junior competitors will be dependent upon their age.

Prices for the Natures Way Foods Junior Aquathon have been reduced this year and cost just £10.50 for British Triathlon Federation (BTF) Members and £13 for Non BTF Members.

The Natures Way Foods Triathlon costs £35.50 for BTF Members and £44 for Non BTF Members. Team entries cost £63.The Natures Way Foods Chichester Try a Tri costs £25.50 for BTF Members and £34 for Non BTF Members.
