Flood support update - May 2014

Our Economic Development Business Support Officers are continuing to provide Flood Support information to district businesses. They have contacted numerous local businesses to advise them of the Business Flood Support Scheme, and will be supporting applications to the scheme. If your business has been affected by flooding and you would like to talk to a BSO about the Business Flood Support Scheme, please contact the business support team.

    Be the Business is a new scheme offering funding, support and grants to employers to take on Higher Apprentices.

  • Better Connected update

    WSCC are aiming for the majority of West Sussex to access superfast fibre-based broadband speeds of 24Mbps, & to ensure that more than 90% of our county can access fibre-based broadband services by Spring 2016.

  • Big Lottery Fund

    Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out half the money for good causes raised by the National Lottery. We are committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.

  • Chichester District Grants and Concessions Scheme – Economy Priority

    Applications must be from organisations delivering projects or services meeting the Council's ‘Economy’ priority. Further information, eligibility criteria and application forms available.

  • Childcare Business Grants Scheme

    A new scheme has been introduced to encourage and support the start-up of new childcare businesses by providing a flat rate start-up grant.

  • Coastal Communities Fund

    The Coastal Communities Fund is designed to encourage the economic development of UK coastal communities by giving them funding to create sustainable economic growth and jobs.

  • Coast to Capital Business Growth Grants

    Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership is inviting expressions of interest for grants of between £5,000 and £100,000.

  • Creative employment programme

    This programme aims to provide unemployed people aged 16-24 (graduate and non-graduate) with paid opportunities to gain access to on the job training, skills and experience in the arts and cultural sector.

  • Dignum Opportunities Trust Award Scheme

    This scheme offers grants and loans that will help individuals, as well as providing on-going mentoring and support towards improving business.

  • Enterprise Europe Network

    Working through local business organisations, the Enterprise Europe Network helps small business to make the most of the European marketplace.

  • European Commission : Support for Low Season Tourism

    This is designed to improve and facilitate the flow of senior tourists in Europe during the low season, through innovative tourism packages, sustainable partnerships and more.

  • Fund 101

    Fund 101 targets UK-based entrepreneurs looking to turn an idea into a new business and existing small companies wishing to purchase equipment to help take their enterprise to the next level.

  • Green Deal Installer Certification

    West Sussex County Council is keen for businesses within the county to be able to access the opportunities presented by the Green Deal, & are offering grants of up to £1,000 towards the cost.

  • Heritage Alliance - Funding Advocacy Group

    The Funding Advocacy Group aims to review and influence the development of funding policy for heritage and to support members in their capacity to access funding.

  • Is4profit : Get Britain Growing

    A new information channel has been launched for small businesses, offering advice on funding from sources including banks, financial advisors and business angels.

  • LEADER Funding

    You are invited to a workshop about how future LEADER funding could support local businesses and communities : 12-4pm July 4th at Chichester District Council.Please email rdpeleader@westsussex.gov.uk to book your place.

  • Loan & Equity Funding (Coast 2 Capital)

    Loans of up to £200,000 and equity investments of up to £125,000 are available to eligible companies in order to support marketing and sales team development, operational scaling up and new product or service enhancement.

  • Low Carbon Chichester District Fund

    The aims of this fund are to reduce carbon emissions, reduce fuel poverty, reduce fuel poverty, raise awareness of / and increase energy efficiency.

  • Manufacturing Advisory Service Funding

    Through MAS you could access a grant of between £300 and £3,000 towards your next improvement project.

  • Prince's Countryside Funding

    The Prince’s Countryside Fund gives grants to projects that help support the people who care for the countryside, providing grants of up to £50,000.

  • Prince's Trust

    The Prince's Trust Enterprise programme supports unemployed young people aged 18-30 to work out if their business ideas are viable and whether self-employment is right for them.

  • Rural Community Energy Fund

    This £15million government fund is open to applications from rural communities wanting to generate their own green power.

  • Santander Community Grants

    The Santander Community Grant needs to fund something specific like equipment or to pay for the costs of a part time sessional worker. It must also directly help disadvantaged people in your local area.

  • SDNP Sustainable Communities Fund

    This is a £700,000 grant fund. Any partnership, voluntary group or other not for profit organisation can apply for funding for projects bringing social, environmental, economic or cultural benefits to a community within the National Park.

  • Siemens Integrity Initiative

    This initiative focuses on supporting projects and non-profit organisations fighting corruption and fraud, using education, training and collective action.

  • SMARTA 100 Awards

    This initiative is looking for small businesses who are pushing the economic recovery forward as Beacons of Enterprising Britain.

  • Social Enterprise Fund

    West Sussex County Council's Social Enterprise Fund has 2 streams of funding avaiable. Deadlines are in August, so please visit their website for information, guidelines and application forms.

  • UK Trade & Investment – Programmes of Support and Expert Advice

    The UKTI’s Passport to Export programme offers new or inexperienced exporters access to grants of up to £3,000 to develop their export business.

  • Wage Incentives

    Jobcentre Plus employment schemes can help you to recruit people, as well as creating opportunities for people looking for work.

  • West Sussex 4 Funding Search

    This free service enables businesses, voluntary organisations, charities, community groups & social enterprises to search for sources of funding for projects.

  • LEADER funding

    More than £2 million has been awarded to local businesses and voluntary groups and a further £800,000 is now available to fund more projects to support the rural economy and communities.
