This has been prepared following guidelines set out by Historic England and when completed, will help to support future planning decisions for the area.

The document identifies the character and qualities of Fishbourne Conservation Area, highlights key issues, and puts forward proposals for its management. The appraisal also defines any features that detract from the character of the area.

The appraisal also reviews the boundary of the conservation area and makes recommendations for its enlargement.

In addition, a series of management proposals include recommendations which are aimed at either protecting the special character of the area, where it is seen to be under some threat, or enhancing the character of the area where there are opportunities to do so.

A public exhibition of the proposals is to be held on Friday 16 June, 2.30pm to 6pm, and on Saturday 17 June, 10am to 3pm, at The Fishbourne Centre, 46 Blackboy Lane, Fishbourne. Members of the public will be able to view copies of the draft appraisal documents at the exhibition.

Copies will also be available by visiting Chichester District Council's main offices at East Pallant House, 1 East Pallant, Chichester, PO19 1TY, and can also be viewed on our conservation area appraisals  page, from 16 June.

Any comments or suggestions on the draft should be made to the Conservation and Design Team, using the questionnaires provided at the exhibition or from the Chichester District Council website.

Responses should be sent to: Conservation and Design, Chichester District Council, East Pallant House, 1 East Pallant, Chichester, PO19 1TY.

The deadline for comments is Friday 28 July 2017.
